Old Red Lion Hotel dates back to it's 18th Century days and was originally an old farm house. The lodges offer comfortable accommodation in a charming setting. There are 12 comfortably furnished, en-suite bedrooms, including ground floor rooms some with disabled facilities. They are all situated in attractive buildings around the main building & restaurant, allowing for a more tranquil stay. The bar area has been recently refurbished, providing comfort seating area including leather settees & high butchers block tables to look out of the windows across the fields. We have a good village pub atmosphere here and have live entertainment on a regular basis. A good selection of wines, spirits & cask conditions beers are available. A bar menu is available at lunch time 12 -2.30 & 6 - 9pm. Our restaurant is open from 6pm until 9pm Monday - Saturday evenings. Boasting a Yorkshire stoned floor & period designed restaurant where our brand new menu is available Monday - Saturday evening. Our Sunday Carvery is always very popular and a reservation is essential. All of our produce is sourced from local suppliers. We close on Sundays at 5pm after the carvery has finished. Therefore, anyone checking in on Sunday evening after 5pm will have the booking in procedure available to them on arrival. Horseheath is close to the historic market town of Saffron Walden. Audley End House and Linton Zoo are also nearby. The university town of Cambridge is a 20 minute drive to the north. To the east lie the pretty Suffolk villages of Clare and Long Melford. Bury St Edmonds, with it's beautiful abby ruins and gardens, is a short drive away. We are also a 20 minutes drive from Newmarket the capital of Horse Racing in the UK.
