Local Attractions
High Force Waterfall
England's highest waterfall, High Force, is just a short drive or ride from the Manor. If you enjoy wildlife, why not visit the Otter Trust's North Pennine Reserve, near Bowes. A picnic can be enjoyed at the Bowlees picnic area on the way to Bowes!

The Romans and Hadrian's Wall
These 2000 year-old remains are brought to life by museums, reconstructions and fascinating visitor centres. Today, the area is studded with forts, milecastles, temples and turrets, all with something different and all waiting to be discovered.

The Lake District
What more can be said about England's indescribable Lake District... The home of Wordsworth, of Beatrix Potter, and others... an area of purple hued ridges, sparkling lakes, forests and pikes, all just under an hour from Lowbyer Manor.

Durham and the Durham Dales
The Durham Dales have a rugged beauty all of their own. Day hikes, cycling journeys or excursions through either heather blanketed Weardale or Teesdale will provide the visitor unlimited vistas of beauty.
