Local Attractions
Vieux-Nice
A little cluster of picturesque narrow and winding streets. Also the place for artists, featuring the most extraordinarily varied range of exhibits. There's much enjoyment to be had just wandering through the little streets, shaded from the summer heat.

Musée Matisse
No one contributed more to Nice's fame than Henri Matisse. Originally a 17th-century Genoese villa, the museum contains a collection of paintings and a exhibit of Matisse's three-dimensional work, including bronze reliefs and cut-and-paste tableaux.

Promenade des Anglais
The seaside walkway is sparkling-clean and exotic. The promenade des Anglais was built in 1820 by an Englishman, Lewis Way, for afternoon constitutionals.

Le Château, Nice
The remains of Le Château, an 11th century cathedral, sit in a pleasant green hillside park crowned with an artificial waterfall. The top gives a spectacular view of the rooftops of Nice and the sparkling Baie des Anges.
