Grotto of Massabielle
Here the Virgin Mary appeared to Bernadette. Come for a glimpse of these holy rocks and the spring that flows beneath. Nearby, water from the spring where Bernadette washed her face is available for drinking, and bringing back home.

Château Fort
This castle overlooks Lourdes from a rocky crag and dates from the 14th century. The high square tower and walls of the château now offer unequaled panoramas of surrounding Lourdes. The Musée Pyrénéen is here and displays a series of regional objects.

The Basilicas
Built above Bernadette's grotto. Completed in 1889, an enormous Virgin Mary strikes a maternal pose. The upper basilica, traditional interior. The Basilique St-Pius X, is underground.

Pic du Jer, Funiculaire
From just outside of town, a track climbs 1000m up the Pic du Jer. Local buses lead to the bottom of the track. Take a bus and walk up to the observatory at the summit for a stunning 360 view of the surrounding countryside and the town below.
