Zetland Country House Hotel stands on the edge of Cashel Bay in Connemara, an area of outstanding beauty. In this untamed landscape of mountains, lakes and white sandy beaches, this country house hotel is an oasis. Owned and managed by Ruaidhri Prendergast, the Zetland House invites you to enjoy gracious living as it used to be in times long gone. The House, built originally as a Sporting Lodge in the early 1800s, derives its name from the Earl of Zetland, a frequent visitor in the last century. Today, the Prendergast family has recreated the charm and elegance of those days combined with all the sophisticated luxury expected by discerning guests. But the natural beauty of Connemara is never far away. From the main reception rooms and bedrooms, you look over gardens rich in flowers, shrubs and trees, sweeping down to Cashel Bay and the Atlantic Ocean. Activities: The Connemara Golf Club located at Ballyconneely is one of the most challenging links courses in the West. Game Fishing - We will be happy to organise fishing, guides and equipment for you on local Salmon and Trout fisheries. This is best booked in advance. Sea Angling - The Celtic Queen sails from Clifden Bay and is licensed to carry 14 fishermen, beginners are welcome as well as seasoned anglers. Guided Walks - At Connemara National Park guided walks are organised on a daily basis and are very interesting. We can organise bicycle hire for you and bikes can be picked up at the Hotel if requested. The Hotel has its own hard court, croquet lawn and snooker table.
